This booklet (updated 10 April 2022) offers a here & now interpretation of Dependent Origination using the teachings and definitions found in the Pali suttas plus provides a brief discussion about the evolution of latter teachings about Dependent Origination in Theravada (Mahavihara) Buddhism. This is useful, thank you for sharing your research. I agree the “here & now” exposition is the only one that makes sense.
You may be interested in taking a look at Snp 4.11. It appears to contain an earlier formulation of dependent origination. See this page http://leighb.com/snp4_11.htm for more information, and look at the table at the bottom of the page which compares with the “links” as listed in later suttas.

Thanks for this Alex. However, it has been said the Sutta Nipāta is not necessarily the oldest text just because it uses an older style of language for its poetic verses. It appears suttas such as SN 12.10 and Udana Chapter 1 report the Buddha’s earliest investigations into Dependent Origination. Kind regards.
